We use only quality materials for our Jersey Shore house painting work. We prefer the higher end materials put out by the two most trusted names in the paint industry: Benjamin Moore and Sherwin Williams. They are the innovators and each offers multiple grades, or levels, of quality and price. Shore Bet uses only the top one or two grades of paint offerings.
For interior painting finishes, we prefer to use matte paint for walls, which makes it easier to wash and touch up. We prefer using semi-gloss for trim, though some clients ask for a higher gloss, which is fine and costs just slightly more.
Benjamin Moore offers their Regal Select line, which costs around $65 per gallon (2024). Sherwin Williams has a comparable line called Duration. When there are dramatic color changes we might upgrade to either Benjamin Moore's Aura or Sherwin Williams' Emerald. These paints can cost up to $85 per gallon (2024).
We believe that trying to save a few dollars on paint is not worthwhile, as labor is the larger component in the cost of a job. Less expensive paint can often require more labor to provide adequate coverage and a more consistent look, so it's better to start with higher quality paint to begin with.
